108 Tires

Today’s the end of 2013.

Looking back, what accomplishment brought you the greatest sense of fulfillment?

A CEO and I were chatting over a glass of wine when he shared this story.

His accountant advised him that he had 108 tires on his personal property.

These tires were all attached to really nice cars, trucks, four-wheelers, motorcycles and bicycles.

The image of 108 tires hit the CEO like, well, a Mack truck.

How much of this stuff, the CEO wondered, do I really need?

Have I lost sight of what matters?

As you look back on 2013 and think ahead to 2014, focus on what fills you with joy.

Happiness is fleeting.  Fulfillment goes deeper and lasts longer.

It’s not about having the most toys.

It’s about moving from success to significance.
