Tend Your Garden

With Spring in full bloom nearly one-third of the year completed, it’s an opportune time for you to tend the garden you call your business and consider taking this action:

  1. Prune programs and processes that are not producing the results you expect. Don’t hold onto old ways just because they’ve always been there. Allow new programs and processes to flourish.
  2. Root out under-performers and show them the door. Just as bad weeds divert water, minerals and sunlight from your best plants, poor performing employees are distractions that choke effectiveness by sending signals to top talent that under-performance is tolerated.
  3. Enrich your top performers. Farmers improve yields 30-50% by nurturing and fertilizing their crops. Ask your top talent, “What’s one thing I can do for you that will increase your effectiveness?” If their request is reasonable, take steps to make it happen.

Tend your garden now for a bountiful harvest later.
