Our family is somewhere in Africa.

We are on a search for the Big Five:  Lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard and rhinoceros.

As you begin a new year, what are your Big Five?

In my strategic planning work with companies, I recommend that organizations commit to no more than five priorities. Few organizations have the time, people, money or self-discipline to pursue and accomplish more than five priorities.

Your priorities should represent five initiatives that can deliver the most positive impact to your organization in 2013.

Don’t make your colleagues search for your Big Five.   Make it clear what matters most.  Establish metrics.  Then track your Big Five to measure performance against expectations.
